Early Childhood

Our early childhood program consists of two sections: Toddler and Primary. In our Toddler Program, students ages 12 months to three years are mastering important life skills from motor skill development and imaginative play to pre-reading and writing. When students age into our Primary (3-6) Program, Pre-K & K students soar—bringing what they’ve already learned and applying their experiences to cultural studies, mathematics, language arts, and practical life skills.

The Science of Montessori

An authentic Montessori education is deeply rooted in the teaching methods developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 20th century. Today, these techniques receive compelling support from the latest research in neuroscience. Montessori's emphasis on hands-on, personalized learning aligns with contemporary insights into the significance of allowing children to explore and experience various activities for optimal brain development.

Accredited Montessori schools such as Wilmington Montessori prioritize honoring and respecting children as individuals, understanding that each has their own unique passions waiting to be discovered.

Students who experience a Montessori education are set up for utmost success, compared to their peers who attend schools with traditional models of education. Not only do Montessori graduates outperform in both academic outcomes and creativity skills, but students who attend Montessori-based schools for at least two years are also associated with high levels of general well-being in their adult years.

As the research proves, the longer a student receives a Montessori education, the greater their overall well-being.
